| It seems impossible to imagine, but I’ve taken more than 20,000 photos in the last 12 months! Digital really is a blessing – can you imagine storing all that on film? That mind-boggling number represents a great mix of corporate, charity and small business clients, as well as an increasingly eclectic range of Gloucestershire artistswho have asked me to work for them. Neville Gabie’s work for New Expressions But all have one thing in common: whether they are an internationally-acclaimed firm of accountants (Grant Thornton) or a Somerset farmer (Frogmary Green Farm), they truly understand the power of strong images. It’s a cliché to say every picture tells a story, but, like all clichés, it’s based on truth. Matthew Harris for Stroud International Textile Festival.
Whether you need strong images for staff magazines, an annual report, website or press release, you need to have stunning photography to grab the attention of clients, customers or supporters. And with the growth of social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter as core marketing tools, images play an increasingly vital role in engaging with your audience.
But money is tight – everyone is feeling the pinch – so I am happy to offer some very special deals to small, locals businesses and charities who may only need me for an hour or so. Obviously, more time means a wider selection of images, more focused planning – but a lot can be achieved in a limited schedule – without compromising on quality. My work doesn’t start and end with just taking pictures. When a client commissions a shoot, I will spend some time discussing the requirements as a good brief saves on grief. I’m happy to arrange the shoot and will always allow plenty of time for the unforeseen and unexpected. Back on the Mac I will carfully caption and edit the images so that the client has optimum choice of ready to use, high resolution images. To complete the workflow, I upload all my work to my on line picture library where each client can store, search, view and download all their images. Next issue: Ask Alex – email your photography questions and I will answer them! Plus details about my forthcoming exhibition |
